Kate's 1st Sleepover - away from home!

One of Kate's very best friends, Alana, is about to move to Hawaii. :( But before they go, we are trying to pack in as many playdates as our schedules will allow! Well tonight is a very special playdate....Kate's 1st sleepover! Kate has spent the night away from us with grandparents, but never before with a friend. She was so excited that I felt pretty certain she would do fine, but was still prepared to get her in the middle of the night! :) Kate packed her own bag and was ready to go!

Kate had soooo much fun and did great! Karen said the girls giggled themselves to sleep around 11pm. Kate then had to be woken up the next morning at 930! Thanks for having Kate over for a sleepover! We can't wait to have Alana at our house next! That's right, apparently the girls have already planned for Alana to come to our house for a sleepover! :)

VBS - Journey to Egypt

Our 6th and final Vacation Bible School for the summer took Kate on a journey to Egypt!

On the final day, instead of a program, we were invited to journey with the kids and experience what they have been doing all week.

The most fun part about this VBS were the coins! Every night the kids were each given 3 coins that they could use to buy things in the market. Their first coin was was used to buy snack. The kids were then left with two coins. They were all set loose in the market where they could choose to spend their coins at the toy shop, jewelry making, hair braids, make-up, mummy wrap, etc. It was sooo cute! Tonight Kate chose to make jewelry and have make-up put on with her two coins.

Nick Jr. Storytime LIVE

Gabe loves all his car & train shows, as well as Mickey Mouse, but there is one more show that tops his list of favorites....Dora the Explorer! So when I saw that Storytime LIVE with Dora was coming to town, I just knew I had to take Gabe!

The had a few activity station set up outside the theater. Gabe's favorite: cookie decorating!

Time for the show! Gabe is one lucky little boy tonight. Not only is he about to see Dora LIVE on stage, he gets to see her while on a date with the beautiful Miss Ava! We're so glad you and your mommy joined us tonight!

HOT Day at the Zoo

Well, I think we picked the hottest day of the summer to spend the morning/afternoon - outside - in the VERY HOT sun! That's right, the high today reached 104 degrees and we chose to sweat with friends at the zoo! :) The kids didn't even seem to notice, but this mommy sure did...and wondered what in the world I was thinking to have agreed to this playdate destination!

But, despite the extreme heat, we did love getting to spend the day with great friends!

After seeing a few animals we decided it would be much more fun to head to the water play zone! The kids had a blast getting soaked!

Sleeping Beauties

Kate & Gabe have been sleeping together alot lately. Kate prefers to have her own room because she likes to draw after going to bed. But, she usually gives into Gabe's crying and begging and ultimately lets him sleep with her. Then after an hour or so of Kate getting mad at Gabe for messing with her stuff, Jon or I have to usually step in and break up the party....which is what Kate wanted all along. :) They end up staying together about half the nights in Kate's bed. Well, tonight I had no idea they were going to sleep together. They went to bed in the separate rooms and the house was quiet. Then when Jon and I went to check on them a couple hours later when we were going to bed.....this is what we found! Kate had apparently decided to sleep with gabe tonight in his tiny little bed! :) They can be so sweet sometimes!

Oh my! We looked up to see this.....Gabe peeing right in front of everyone! Two older ladies were sitting near us laughing hysterically! I couldn't believe what I was seeing but my friend Stephanie insisted I pull out the camera! :)

Christ Church

Tonight we took the kids to the Aquatic Center to join with friends from Christ Church.

This is probably our favorite summer destination!

Kate was all over the place so I wasn't able to take many pictures of her, but I did get some great smiles from Gabe. Last summer he wanted nothing to do with the little kid area with all the sprayers and the giant bucket that dumps water, but he LOVES it this summer! His favorite part...the blue water slide!

Messy Makeovers

To finish out our last evening together the kids decided to have a (VERY) messy makeover!!! They covered themselves in lotions, sprays, and lip gloss. Gabe even ate some nail polish...yuck!

Gymnastics

Today is (sadly) the McC girls' last full day with us before they head back up to Atlanta. We have had such a fun time though and look forward to our next time together! To end our week, we took them to join with our group of friends at "Open Gym" and Chick-fil-A! Unfortunately, my camera does NOT take good pics inside this gym, but I did take a few pics to show some of our fun!
