Gabe's BIG BOY Hair

I have always loved (and still do) longer hair on Gabe. I think it's cute and different from the "every boy has it" shorter style. But, I knew the day to cut it off was coming soon. I don't know if I will keep it short forever, but I was ready to change it up a bit. That said, as you will see below, I had let his hair get extra shaggy to fit in best with the whole Pirate look. So when I picked him up from school today, we went straight to Headlines! Our usual stylist Heather was off today and I just couldn't wait another day, so we went with the girl available. She was great with Gabe and made for a perfect back-up.

At first he loved the spikes, then said he didn't want spikes, then said they tickled, and now has settled in to liking his hair again.

Kate & Gabe's PIRATE Party! - Part 7 - The Cake!

As this year's party comes to close and I think about my kids, it really is hard to believe that they are 5 & 3! Even more difficult to believe is that with Gabe being three, that means that we moved to South Georgia 3 years ago! WOW! Time does fly, and life moves quickly. This realization just helps to remind me that I can never take life's little moments for granted. One of my favorite songs is by Rob Thomas: "Little Wonders." Each time I hear it I am reminded of how quickly time slips away, how it seems like just yesterday our baby girl was born. Then two years later our sweet little boy entered our family. And now at ages 5 and 3 they are no longer babies, but fun, spirited little kids who still have their whole lives ahead of them. But for this moment, for these small hours, Jon and I have an important role in their lives. Our job is to love them, to teach them, and to cherish each and every moment that we have with them! Kate & Gabe, you mean everything to me. I love you both so much and want you to always know that I am here for you. As much as I hope to teach you, you two also teach me so much each day!

"Erika's Edibles" made the main birthday cake, but I made the two little pirate ships. I am NOT a baker, but I thought they turned out pretty cute! The adorable cake toppers I got from Etsy were the perfect finishing touch!

Once the ships had set sail and were prepared to be eaten, the pirates came over to bid the kids a final farewell! They were so awesome at the party!
