Animal Alphabet Parade

Today is an exciting day for the Kindergartners...it's the annual
Alphabet Animal Parade!!!

Each class was given some letters and then the children were allowed
to choose their animal starting with with one of their class letters.

Gabe could have chosen to be so many different animals,
but he and his friends all decided to be rhinos...ugly and boring!  :)
I mean, couldn't he have at least chosen a zebra???

Okay, they may be boring and ugly,
but even as a rhino Gabe is pretty cute!

It was quite a zoo inside Mrs. Cobb's classroom this morning
as they all got dressed for the parade!

After helping the kids get dressed I headed down to the cafeteria to meet up with my family.
Little brother is waiting for the zoo to arrive!!

Zoo music was piped through the speaker system as the children began to walk through the halls and into the cafeteria where families were lining the rows....we all looked like the paparazzi awaiting the arrival of celebrities!

The parade was so cute and all the animals were adorable...even the rhinos!

My favorite animal in the Alphabet Parade!!

Everyday Fun

These past few days I decided to just take some pictures of our everyday life.
My kids are always having fun, destroying the house in the process, but they do enjoy themselves!

"Want a kiss?!?"

Kate was upstairs by herself for a while and when she finally came down,
she had transformed herself into Princess Elsa!  :)

I have a feeling Gabe & Grant will grow up o be best friends!

Getting ready for the Wild West Train!

It's a little chilly, but every once in a while we still need a break to go outside!
You see, Camden County wanted to join the rest of Georgia by having TWO snow days!!
No, we didn't even get a flake from this winter storm sweeping over the east coast, but these kids have sure loved having two impromptu days off from school.  I am quite certain this is a first for our county.

The kids got some fake snow and used it outside to cover the trees and bushes....
now if only we could get some real snow!

Wild West Train

My parents were given the opportunity today to join with other media personnel to join the St Marys Railroad for an early sneak peak of the upcoming Wild West train ride.  Free and train....we thought it sounded great!  :)  My parents picked up the kids and took them to the train station while I waited for the call that they were going to pass by the house.  The kids have ridden on this train before, and while not the best entertainment for the money, it's still fun and we all enjoy it.  Well, everything started mostly fine, though the train was a bit delayed leaving the station.  If it were just Kate and Gabe that would be no big deal, but a delay with Grant, when you are asking him to sit still, can make for quite the challenge!  Anyway, the train finally arrived by our house and I was outside ready to wave and take pictures!

Hi everyone!!

There they go...off on an adventure!
The train drives a couple miles down the tracks then stops for a small play themed to the current event, in this case the Wild West.  Well, what my parents didn't realize is that this media preview also happened to be the dress rehearsal!  And apparently it was a pretty rough rehearsal because they kept practicing the scenes over and over.  They were gone forever and when they did finally arrive back home, I think the kids were all wishing they could get back those lost hours...  I'm sure the actual train ride will be better, but I think we'll skip the Wild West train and catch the next one.  :)

Despite the long rehearsal once they arrived at the midpoint, the kids did have fun on the actual train ride.
Here are some pictures from my dad....

Grant fell asleep while waiting for the train to leave the station.

SMES Book Parade

The students in 1st and 2nd grade have worked hard reading all year and to celebrate the librarians have organized a Book Parade!  The students were told that they could dress up like their favorite storybook character and then march throughout the school.  Kate was really excited about this!  There were so many cute costumes this morning!!

Here comes Kate! (a.k.a. Merida from Brave)

Kate had actually not read the book "Brave" but wanted to dress up as Merida.
I told her that was fine, but then ordered her the book last week and told her she had to finish it before the parade.  She spent her free time every afternoon reading, but she finished the book in time!

A few cute costumes...

After the book parade the students made their way into the gym for the pep rally.
We were of course excited to see Gabe come in....hopefully next year he can be a part of the book parade.

During the assembly Kate was awarded the Terrific Kid achievement for the month of January.
The character word for this month is
Knowledge: Discovering something new so you can be better at whatever you do.
Kate has certainly excelled this year and has blossomed into a very confident learner!
Congratulations Kate.  We are so very proud of you!!!

A few of my favorite 2nd Graders at the Pep Rally.

My Brave little girl.  :)

Before heading home I grabbed Kate and a few of her classmates for a picture in the library.
We have such an amazing librarian and assistant!
For the parade today they dressed up as Book Fairies!

Just before I was heading out the door an announcement was made to the whole school.
Apparently the costumes were being judged
and Kate ended up winning "Best Overall" for 2nd Grade!!!
As a prize, each of the category winners were allowed to pick a stuffed animal from the library to take home!
