Playing at the Park

Today we went to our favorite waterfront park for fun and a picnic with daddy! Jon met us on his lunch break.....Kate was VERY excited!

After lunch Kate headed off to the big fountain. She and Gabe were so cute splashing their feet in the water. :) Then, she took off towards the dock to collect little shells. Kate is a collector...flowers, rocks, feathers, shells, etc. She just loves to accumulate stuff!

The boats are always a hit.

Even Gabe enjoyed crawling over to look out at all the boats.

We ended our time at the park with some sibling bonding on the swings...

Then, what you don't see because I unfortunately couldn't take any pictures, is how our fun really ended. After the swing we walked down a block for ice cream. Then, heading out of the ice cream shop we looked down the road and saw very black skies....and heavy winds blowing large trashcans down the street! It was beautiful outside just 15 minutes ago!!! I loaded the kids in the stroller and started running! 3 blocks to the car! Of course, on the way Kate started saying she had to go potty...detour to the bathroom...we're running out of time before the sky starts falling! At the bathroom we meet the panicked park ranger who is scared for our safety, asks us to take refuge in the bathroom until the storm blows over....Is this a hurricane coming?!? When I decline the offer she grabs a giant rain coat, gets Kate, and starts running with her towards my car, with me running behind pushing Gabe. She even put Kate into her carseat! Kate...and I...were a little nervous, but we all made it safely into the car just in time before the big storm hit. :)

After the big storm, when PaPa & Grandma came home from work, Kate worked her magic and got them (especially Papa for those who know him) to do the unthinkable...take off their shoes and socks to play in the rain water!!! My dad doesn't even like to go without something protecting his feet from germs in the house!
